Well, August was an interesting month. As Scott alluded to in his August Progress Report, we got kind of wrapped up in a whole heap of “shit happens” and didn’t make as much progress as we would have liked to. I had a death in the family, and Mom went back in the hospital for her surgery to get all her plumbing put back together (if you missed that story, you can read Murphy’s Law Strikes Back). Mom’s back home now and recuperating (again)…so far, so good. I’m also experiencing an interesting turn of events with my employer. Can’t discuss the details at the moment. But, I can tell you that I have some time off – like it or not. So, I’m more determined than ever to make some major self-employment progress in September. Mix some spare time with desperation and lost wages and you get a sure-fire “get off your ass and make it happen” formula!
Minding My Business
Thanks to Internet Business Mastery Academy, I did manage to settle on a niche for my business in August. Scott & I have been enjoying really taking our time (screwing off & procrastinating) going through the Academy lessons. But, now that I’m not working (broke), I’m finding myself jumping ahead into future lessons so I can get my first business up and running ASAP. The plan is to start a blog with a focus on my niche (to be revealed later). On the blog, besides providing awesomely delicious content, I’ll do some affiliate marketing and eventually sell my own info product(s). In the meantime, I’m planning to start selling niche-related products on eBay and/or an online store. eBay seems to be a fairly quick and painless way to start getting some money flowing. I’ve sold on eBay before, so I should be able to jump in and get started quickly.
First Steps
I’ve been toying with the idea of an eBay business for quite a while. My research for product sourcing led me to Worldwide Brands , which is a site that gives members access to drop-shippers and other wholesale suppliers. In order to do business with wholesalers, I need to create my business entity. So, my next step and top priority for September will be to create my LLC, which also means coming up with a good business name. Once I’ve done that, I can get an EIN (Employer Identification Number) and then start finding some wholesale products to sell. While I’m working on all that, I’ll be starting to write content for the blog and deciding on design elements. In other words, I have a lot to learn, and a lot of ground to cover!
Time to pee or get off the pot!

Sounds interesting. I’m personally waiting for my drop-shipper to get in touch but after one week without any contact I’m not sure if it’s the kind of person I want to do business with.
